What Is the Best App to Turn a Photo Into a Coloring Page?

The best app depends on your device: web tools like ColorBliss and Crayola work anywhere, Mimi Panda has Android, Colorzy is for iPhone and iPad.

By the Colorzy team ·

There is no single best app to turn a photo into a coloring page. The right pick depends on your device and how often you will use it: browser tools such as ColorBliss, iColoring AI, Colorify AI and Crayola work on any device, Mimi Panda adds an Android app, and Colorzy is built for iPhone and iPad. Most let you try at least one page free, so you can compare results with your own photo before paying.

We make Colorzy, so we have a stake here. To keep this fair, we only list facts we checked in October 2026, and we skip prices because they change often. Check each site for current terms.

Which tools work without an app?

If you only need a page or two, a browser tool is the quickest route.

  • ColorBliss lets you try once without signing up. After that, a free account gives you roughly a dozen pages, and paid credits cover more. Beyond photos, it handles text prompts, line drawings and full coloring books. There is no mobile app.
  • iColoring AI is free to try with no sign-up, then moves to a subscription. It does text and image to coloring page and lets you color online in the browser. No app.
  • Colorify AI gives you your first try free without logging in.
  • MyColoring.ai gives daily free credits and downloads as PDF or PNG, which is handy for printing.
  • Crayola’s custom coloring page tool is free and has a slider for line strength. That slider is useful: drag it up for bolder outlines on a busy photo, down for a lighter look.

Is there a photo to coloring page app for Android?

Mimi Panda has both a website and an Android app. You need an account, and new users get 8 trial credits. Besides photo to coloring page, it offers paint-by-numbers, which some families enjoy as a step up from regular coloring.

Our app does not have an Android version yet. Android users can still use our photo to coloring page tool in a mobile browser for one free page.

Can you do it in Canva?

Yes, with a free account. Canva can turn a photo into line art using effects, and it also has a separate AI coloring page generator for text prompts. Results depend a lot on the photo. We walk through it in how to turn a photo into a coloring page in Canva.

What about iPhone and iPad?

This is the gap we built Colorzy for. It runs on iPhone and iPad, turns a photo or a text idea into a printable page, and offers 12 styles: kids, adult, mandala, connect the dots, maze, sketch, watercolor, pastel, oil paint, comic, cartoon and anime. You can color right on the screen, with Apple Pencil on iPad, or print and save as PDF in one tap. You get one free page, on the web or in the app, and a subscription unlocks unlimited pages.

Photos you upload on our website are sent once to draw the page, not saved on our servers, and never shared.

How do you choose the right one?

Ask yourself four questions:

  1. What device will you use? Any browser works for the web tools. For an Android app, look at Mimi Panda. For iPhone and iPad, ours.
  2. How many pages do you need? For one or two, a free try is enough. For a weekly habit or a full coloring book, compare subscriptions and credit packs.
  3. Do you want to color on screen or on paper? iColoring AI and our app support on-screen coloring. Most others focus on printables.
  4. Do you need print-ready files? If you print often, check for PDF export. MyColoring.ai and our app both offer it.

How do you get the best result from any app?

The photo matters more than the tool. Use a well-lit shot with one clear subject and a simple background, and crop close before uploading. Faces and pets do best at eye level. If the result is too detailed for a young child, look for a kids or simple style. Our tips on turning your pet into a coloring page apply to people photos too.

Do you need an app at all?

Not always. If you just want something to color this afternoon, a printable library may be enough. Our free coloring pages collection has original pages for holidays, animals, food and more, each as a free PDF.
